Check your flight status before you leave for the airport! 

There are so many great tools to check flight status.  Download the mobile app associated with your airline if possible for the most accurate information.  Taking a few seconds to check your flight status could save you several hours of frustration.  Not only can you check flight status with their app - you can check-in online also.  Many apps will give you an electronic boarding pass so you don't have to worry about printing.  

To be on the safe side make sure your check-in and boarding time are also delayed to match your flight. 

If you are flying an airline that does not offer an app, download an app such as FlightStats, Flight Tracker Free, or GateGuru.  We really like Gate Guru because on top of flight status you will see the Gate once it is assigned.  FlightStats is great because you can get airport conditions.   Another fun free app is Planes Live Free Flight Status Tracker.
