Regardless of whether you are traveling domestic or international - meet the locals!

The local people are your best travel resource.  They will give you authentic unbiased suggestions for everything from restaurants to must see sites.  We have found that they want to help you have the best possible experience in their home.  They are excited to share their opinions and ideas.

Getting to know the locals will also be a great way to learn about their culture.  We have never met anyone who wasn't thrilled to share their culture and learn about ours.  You can learn so much in a short time and get a genuine experience that you can't get from a book or travel website.  

The locals are everywhere.  They could be a local street vendor, restaurant server, cab driver,  bartender, cashier, patron at a restaurant or bar, or just someone you bump into.  Don't be shy.  Say hello and ask them - where is the best place to eat, what do you suggest to do locally, is their a bar you recommend.  You will be surprised how many locals are happy to help.
